Job Summary

The Maintenance Assistant supports the proper functioning, upkeep, and safety of BSN facilities, equipment, and vehicles. The role requires sound mechanical knowledge and basic skills in vehicle servicing, plumbing, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical and Equipment Maintenance:
  • Conduct routine inspection, servicing, and minor repairs of equipment.
  • Assist in identifying faults and refer complex issues to technicians.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records.

Vehicle Support:

  • Perform basic vehicle checks (oil, coolant, tyres, batteries, belts).
  • Report faults promptly for repair.
  • Assist in coordinating servicing and documentation.

Plumbing Duties:

  • Fix leaks and replace pipes, taps, valves, and fittings.
  • Maintain water supply and drainage systems.
  • Ensure regular water pumping and septic tank evacuation.

Electrical Support:

  • Handle minor electrical tasks such as replacing sockets, bulbs, and switches.
  • Report major faults to qualified electricians.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards.

General Facilities Support:

  • Assist with preventive maintenance of buildings and utilities, including Lagos Bible Guest House.
  • Support event and meeting setup.
  • Ensure proper storage of tools and materials.
  • Follow health, safety, and environmental standards.

Requirements

Education:

  • OND, Trade Test, or Technical School Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience:

  • 2–3 years’ experience in maintenance or similar role.
  • Strong mechanical background.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance, plumbing, and electrical systems.

Skills:

  • Good troubleshooting ability.
  • Basic use of maintenance tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
  • Physically fit and flexible with work hours.
  • Must be a practising Christian.
